So What is Steve up to now? (2011)

>>NEWSFLASH<<
Broke my ankle about 6 weeks ago so not started any classes yet. On the mend so will start soon.

Along with starting up All Star Roller Skating Club. (Please check the link on the left of this page.) My aim this year, beginning
NOW and ending on Halloween 2011. Is to hold dance workshops in as many places as I can and teach the "zombie" dance to as many people as I can. Then maybe, just maybe we can have another go at the record. If we don't get it we will have had lots of fun along the way. The best case is that we take the record from the Mexicans. Worse case is that 'Thrill the World' get a lot more people for their annual event, we all get a bit fitter and we learn a cool dance that will impress everyone at weddings, office parties and the like.
So, I am about to start booking halls and community centres around my area. If anyone can help, perhaps arrange a workshop in their area, or has any briliant ideas or influence or money or time then I am open to suggestions. How about Glastonbury, I hear there's a lot of people there in the summer. Also China, lot of people there. So I am starting small with community centres etc but am happy to go huge if the opportunity comes along. Serious help or ideas only please to Steve allstarskating@hotmail.co.uk

The last 3 years have been very bizarre for me. From never having danced or taught a dance step in my life to teaching many hundreds of people. Personally, I have never had so much fun and I think all the people who took part in the events would agree with me.

None of the people who danced on TV and on stages all around the north west were dancers and this experience was so far removed from their daily lives. Now its your chance. Get in touch, get involved!!

Thrillermania and Children in Need

Thanks to everyone

Who took part in our thriller world record attempt. We did beat the record that we were told about. Unfortunataly Mexico held one at the same time with nearly 13000!!
Oh well.
Special thanks to all who raised sponsorship money including the following primary school, Heathfield, Ladybridge, The Gates and Queensbridge. On Friday 20th November 26 zombies went to the Children in Need party at The Blue Planet Aquarium. We danced live on BBC1 and presented a cheque for £1439.99 to Children in Need

Well done EVERYONE!!! You where all amazing.

On Halloween 31st October 2009, 285 zombies took to the floor to perform the 'thriller' dance
at Harper Green Leisure Centre, Farnworth, Bolton, England

A few will need to be discounted but i think will will still beat the last official record set on 19 April 2009
at Williamsburg, Virginia of 242 (my opinion, lets wait for Guinness)

Unfortunately for us Michael's passing caused dance events to spring up all over the World.
They did a huge Thriller event in Mexico City with something like 13,000 people.
They did not comply wiith Guinness's rules but for some reason, probably politics, Guinness gave it to them.
Oh Well!

Here is a bit of edited film from the evening. I know its not to the music as its just a quick edit. More video to follow

;

This is a dance that anyone can do and is aimed at people with little or no dance training. I guess that covers most of us. Watch the video below, taken at last years event. I am the 55 year old man in the middle (front row) and my daughter, who is 17 years old is front row far right as you look at it. Neither of us has danced before.   Each series of steps has a phrase that goes with it so if you can say it you can do it.

What do I need to do?

Learn the dance .  This can be done by coming along to the workshops and or following the dvd.

This video was filmed at The Bolton Bazaar to promote the upcoming World Record attempt

2009 1.30am!!!!! for 'Thrill the World. Are we MAD or are we insomniacs?

2008 saw Bolton getting involved in 'Thrill the World' as 112 people did the 'Zombie' dance from Michael Jacksons Thriller Video. The event attracted quite a lot of media interest and was covered by ITV Granada reports, Channel M, Bolton News and the Manchester Evening News. We all had so much fun that we decided there and then to go HUGE in 2009

The dance was not done on skates
So tell all your friends we had a Halloween party to remember

This was 2008 when we got involved in a worldwide simultaneous dance

2008

Fantastic piece of editing by Richard from Chester as he makes MJ fit into our version of the dance
